Yoga to the People offers yoga classes in NYC with a voluntary payment schedule, no dress code, and no rock star teachers, as an attempt to democratize and de-commoditize yoga.

The comments on this article are as interesting as the article itself, and there is a great debate within them with over 100 comments. I especially liked comment #95.

This does sum it up nicely:

Yes you are your own teacher, and no matter who is guiding you, you should be able to learn because of who you are. That said, teachers are such a beautiful thing and the relationship between student and teacher is extremely important, let's not pretend otherwise."

Rock-star yoga-teachers. Giggle, snort, guffaw! Everybody knows that yogis can't handle the necessary levels of toxic drugs needed for true rock stardom. Couldn't help it. It just sounded too much like "ethical politician" not to laugh. 505 out.
